Conversations Management
The Conversations feature enables interactive discussions on your website, similar to a comment section. This functionality is particularly useful for blog posts or any content where user feedback is encouraged. Registered users can also send and receive private messages when logged in to the site.
Adding a Conversations Block
To incorporate a conversation area on a page:
- Enter Edit Mode: Navigate to the page where you want the conversation and click the Edit button.
- Add Block: Click on the area where you want the conversation to appear, select Add Block, and choose Conversations from the list.
- Configure Settings: In the block settings, you can:
- Enable Attachments: Allow users to add files to their messages and set limits on file types and sizes.
- Set Notification Preferences: Configure email alerts for new messages or replies to facilitate moderation and user engagement.
- Save and Publish: After configuring, save the block settings and publish the page to make the conversation area live.
Managing Conversations
Concrete provides tools to oversee all conversations across your site:
- Access Conversations Management:
- Navigate to the Dashboard.
- Go to Conversations > Conversations Management.
- Moderate Posts:
- Filter by Status: Use the dropdown to view posts based on their status (e.g., pending, approved, flagged).
- Search by Keyword: Locate specific posts using keywords.
- Approve or Delete: Review posts and take appropriate actions to maintain the quality of discussions.

Implementing Banned Words

To maintain respectful communication, you can filter out inappropriate language:
- Set Up Banned Words:
- In the Dashboard, go to System & Settings.
- Under Conversations, select Banned Words.
- Add words or phrases you want to filter from conversations.
- Configure Actions:
- Decide how the system should respond when banned words are detected, such as alerting moderators or automatically hiding messages.
Adjusting Conversation Permissions
Control who can participate in conversations:
- Access Permissions:
- In the Dashboard, navigate to System & Settings.
- Under Conversations, select Permissions.
- Set Participation Rights:
- Define who can start new conversations and reply to existing ones.
- Assign Moderation Rights:
- Determine who has the authority to moderate conversations, edit or delete messages, and manage user participation.
